Selecting the right things to shoot is sometimes like picking fruit

For every action there is a reaction. The marketplace is saturated with photographers due to technology. Reaction: Every person that puts on a shoe labels themselves a model these days. But this blog isn't just about models or modeling. It's about finding the right model for the job as well as finding the right photographer. Hopefully this will continue into finding the right clients and keep growing. Right now my options are wide open and I am putting everything I know into everything I do, and the results are somewhat satisfying. Just this morning I requested from a friend, an account number to look at a friend of hers portfolio. A few minutes later she replied to my text that her friend didn't want me to view her online portfolio because she didn't want to shoot with a photographer that she would have to pay. I kindly explained to my friend that I had wanted to simply view her portfolio and if she seemed port worthy, and I would have considered working with her on a trade basis for a project, if it would benefit the both of us. I simply lost interest. See I don't mind giving up some of my time, because I love everything about photography and never see it as work; even the long post edit hours. I just love the infinite possibilities that are available as a result of software and technology; Which in my opinion created this chaos. You see as a photographer, I am proud of my work, and gladly accept an invitation for it to be viewed by anyone. Not that I am great, but I am constantly improving my process. I now work with a team of people that I consider great at their skills, and we have grown to become more of a family type. We all are constantly on the look out for that model with "The Look". You know, that deliciously ripe, perfect piece of fruit that will yield the best pie. It ain't that easy right? It's just like going to the Pike Place Market and trying to find that pefect anything. Everything looks good until you get it home. So how do you make it through this fog of people that all label themselves as perfection, flawless and dedicated on one day, then wishy washy and unsure the next? This question is for both, the photographers and models. What get you through the fog?
